Our BA (Hons) History degree gives you opportunity to learn about the period from 1600 to the present day, focusing mostly on the modern era. Discover more. Our History BA (Hons) offers an exciting modern, global and relevant curriculum that aims to help you answer two key questions: how do we make sense of the past? And how has the past shaped the present? You will gain the skills to answer these questions and to apply your knowledge to a range of diverse careers in the future. Our History degree has been designed through a unique and cutting-edge consultation process involving current, recent and prospective students and is taught by a team of leading historians who have won awards and grants for their teaching excellence. The first year provides a grounding in global history from the 15th century to the present, exploring five continents and the interconnections between them. You will be introduced to the histories of Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, Britain and its empire. Core modules equip students with the key skills of being a historian, including developing research skills, engaging with primary sources and historiography.
