About this course
Journalism with a focus on politics brings together two disciplines that are fundamentally concerned with the same terrain: power, accountability, and the flow of information in democratic societies. Journalism is the craft and profession of gathering, verifying, and communicating information to public audiences, holding institutions and individuals to account through investigation and reporting. Politics provides the substantive knowledge and analytical framework to understand what you are reporting: how governments work, how policies are made, how parties compete, and what the underlying forces shaping political events actually are. Together, they equip you to report on politics with genuine depth and authority. At Brunel University London, this three-year, full-time degree develops your journalistic skills across writing, broadcasting, digital media, and investigative techniques, while giving you a solid grounding in political theory, institutions, and contemporary affairs. You will learn to research and write news stories under deadline pressure, conduct interviews, produce content for different platforms, and apply the editorial judgement that good journalism demands.
