How does the media shape cultural life? How have digital cultures transformed interactions? Explore these questions and more with BA Media and Digital Culture BA Media and Digital Culture is a three-year degree, or four years with an optional placement or study abroad year. Youβll explore how media shapes social and cultural life, how digital and internet cultures transform communication, and how media influences politics, identity, and everyday interaction. Youβll develop the skills to move beyond opinion and build evidence-based understanding of media and society. How does the media shape social and cultural life? How have digital and internet cultures transformed personal and networked interactions? What is the relationship between media, mass politics, and governance? Who holds media power, and how is it exercised? These are some of the central questions you will explore throughout your degree. At Essex, you will investigate what connects people and what divides them, examining how media and communication shape everyday life. This includes how we relate to politicians, celebrities, friends, and wider society, as well as how we define identity, family, and community in a digital age.
