AI EXPOSURE TODAY is a Careermash index from 0 to 100 of how exposed this job's everyday tasks are to AI today. As a driving examiner, you test people who are learning to drive. You watch them do different driving tasks - parking, handling busy roads, following traffic laws - and decide if they are ready for their licence. You need to stay calm and fair, even if a candidate is nervous.
Most of your day you will be sitting in cars, watching people drive and making notes about what they do well and where they need to improve. You give feedback so they understand what happened in the test. You also keep careful records and follow the rules set by the DVLA to make sure every test is done the same way. The job can be repetitive, but you meet lots of different people.
A UK degree, particularly in fields such as transport management or education, can provide a significant edge in this career path. It demonstrates a commitment to professional development and equips candidates with valuable skills in communication and assessment, which are essential for success as a driving examiner.
