Director in Logistics, Warehousing and Transport
What you'd actually do
As a director in logistics, warehousing and transport, you're in charge of getting goods from one place to another. You might run a warehouse where thousands of items are stored, plan the lorries and vans that deliver them, or oversee the whole supply chain for a big company. You need to understand what customers want, what it costs to move things, and how to do it without wasting money or damaging products.
Your day involves planning, solving problems and managing people. You'll review how the warehouse is running, check if deliveries are on schedule, and spot ways to work faster or cheaper. You'll negotiate with suppliers and transport companies to get the best prices, lead your team through busy periods, and use data to track what's working and what isn't. You need to be organised, think ahead, and care about safety - logistics mishaps can cost money and put people at risk.
