About this course

Accounting and finance are the twin pillars of the commercial and financial world. Accounting is concerned with the measurement, recording and communication of financial information, providing the evidence base for business decisions and the accountability that markets and regulators require. Finance addresses how capital is raised, allocated and managed, encompassing investment theory, corporate finance, risk management and the workings of financial markets.

Together they form a degree that is directly relevant to careers at the heart of business, banking and public financial management.

At Bath, which consistently ranks among the UK's leading universities for business education, this three-year programme provides a rigorous and professionally oriented grounding in both disciplines. You will study financial accounting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment management, financial markets, taxation, auditing and quantitative methods. The degree draws on Bath's close relationships with the accounting and finance professions, and the programme is designed to align with the professional qualifications offered by bodies such as the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA and CFA Institute, meaning that graduates may receive exemptions from parts of those professional examinations.

The typical entry tariff is 168 UCAS points.

Graduates move into roles in chartered accountancy, investment banking, corporate finance, financial analysis, treasury management, audit, management consultancy, fund management and financial regulation. Bath's strong reputation in this field and its employer connections give graduates a significant advantage in highly competitive graduate recruitment processes. Many graduates pursue professional accountancy or finance qualifications alongside their early careers, and some continue to postgraduate study in finance, accounting, economics or business administration.

The combination of technical financial knowledge and analytical rigour that this degree develops remains in consistent demand across the economy.
