Accounting is the discipline that records, analyses and communicates the financial information on which business decisions, investment choices and regulatory compliance all depend. Without accurate and well-interpreted financial data, neither private organisations nor public bodies can function effectively, which is why accounting graduates are consistently among the most sought after in the UK labour market. At the University of Bedfordshire, this four-year programme includes a foundation year, making it accessible to students who need additional academic preparation before beginning the degree proper, with a typical entry tariff of around 32 points for the foundation year entry route.

You will study financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, corporate governance and the quantitative methods that underpin financial analysis. The degree provides exemptions from some of the examinations of the major professional accountancy bodies, reducing the time required to achieve chartered status through routes such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW. Many graduates pursue professional qualification alongside their early careers, building toward chartered accountant or chartered management accountant status over the years following graduation.
