Adult Nursing Practice

At Southampton Solent University, this three-year, full-time degree prepares you for registration as an adult nurse through a programme that integrates academic study with substantial practical experience. Working in partnership with NHS Trusts in the region, you will spend a significant portion of your time in clinical placements, applying what you learn in lectures and seminars to real patient care. You will develop competence in assessment, care planning, medication management, and the communication skills that are central to safe and compassionate nursing practice.
The academic content covers anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, evidence-based practice, and the ethical and legal frameworks within which nurses operate.
Nursing education at this level is built around the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and successful completion of the degree leads to eligibility to register as a qualified nurse. You will be supported throughout by academic staff and clinical mentors who bring practical experience to the teaching they provide.
