About this course

Aerospace engineering is one of the most technically demanding and prestigious engineering disciplines, addressing the design, development and operation of aircraft, spacecraft, satellites and the systems that make flight possible. It draws on aerodynamics, propulsion, structural mechanics, materials science, avionics and control systems to enable vehicles that must perform reliably and safely under extreme conditions of speed, altitude, temperature and load. The aerospace industry spans commercial aviation, defence, space exploration, unmanned systems and emerging fields such as urban air mobility, and it consistently demands engineers with both deep technical knowledge and the management and problem-solving skills needed to lead complex programmes.

At Brunel University London this integrated MEng programme is a four-year full-time degree that combines the technical depth of an advanced aerospace engineering education with management skills suited to the global aerospace industry. The integrated structure means you progress from foundational engineering science through to advanced specialist study and project work in a single cohesive programme, without the need for a separate master's application. You will engage with aerodynamics, structural analysis, propulsion, flight dynamics, avionics and project management, working on hands-on practical projects that develop your engineering judgement alongside your theoretical knowledge.

You will learn to analyse complex engineering systems, to design components and assemblies that meet demanding specifications, and to communicate your ideas and findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Engineering at this level requires both rigorous quantitative analysis and creative problem-solving, and the programme develops both.

Graduates with an integrated MEng in aerospace engineering are well placed for careers as aerospace engineers, systems engineers, aerodynamicists, propulsion engineers, structural analysts and project managers in the aerospace, defence, space and advanced manufacturing industries. Postgraduate study or research is also a route for those seeking specialist or academic careers.
