About this course

Aerospace technology and engineering encompasses the design, development, testing and manufacture of aircraft, spacecraft, satellites and the systems that support flight and space exploration. It is a field that demands both deep technical knowledge, spanning aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, avionics and materials, and the ability to manage complex development programmes where safety is paramount and performance requirements are extreme. The aerospace sector is one of the UK's most significant industries, and the technology it develops continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in aviation, defence and the exploration of space.

At Coventry University this four-year, full-time programme includes a foundation year, providing a supported entry point for students who need additional preparation in mathematics and physical science before progressing to the full degree. You will develop core aerospace engineering knowledge across the main technical disciplines, working with contemporary facilities and industry-standard tools that mirror the environments you will encounter in professional roles. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you extended experience in aerospace engineering, design, manufacturing or related technology organisations before graduation.

Graduates move into careers across aerospace manufacturing, aircraft design and development, systems engineering, maintenance and overhaul, defence technology, space systems and satellite engineering. Many graduates pursue professional registration as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through the Royal Aeronautical Society or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Some also continue to postgraduate study in aerospace engineering, advanced manufacturing or systems engineering.
