Art History and Creative Industries Business Management

Art history is one of the most intellectually rich disciplines in the humanities, examining the visual arts from ancient times to the present through the lenses of cultural history, philosophy, criticism and theory. At Liverpool Hope University this three-year full-time programme allows you to develop your art historical knowledge and critical skills alongside an understanding of the business of the creative industries. In art history you will engage with painting, sculpture, photography, film, architecture and design across multiple periods and cultural contexts, developing the skills of visual analysis, historical argument and written communication that the discipline demands. In creative industries business management you will study the structures and economics of the creative sector, including cultural policy, intellectual property, funding models, marketing and management.

The programme includes a sandwich year and a year abroad, as well as built-in work placement opportunities, ensuring that you graduate with substantial professional experience alongside your academic knowledge.

Graduates go on to work in galleries, museums, auction houses, arts journalism, cultural policy, arts management, publishing, the heritage sector, creative consultancy and education. Many continue to postgraduate study in art history, curatorship, arts management or cultural studies.
