Biochemistry
Biochemistry is the science of life at the molecular level, concerned with the chemical processes and substances that occur within living organisms. Nottingham Trent University's three-year full-time Biochemistry programme develops this foundational knowledge through a curriculum that combines lecture and seminar teaching with substantial laboratory work. You will study cell biology and molecular biology, the biochemistry of metabolism, protein structure and function, genetics and genomics, enzymology, and the chemical techniques used to investigate biological systems, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and molecular cloning methods. Laboratory work is integral to biochemistry education and is where theoretical knowledge becomes practical skill, developing the ability to design experiments, collect and interpret data, and draw rigorous conclusions from evidence.
