About this course

Biochemistry is the science of life at the molecular level. It investigates the chemical processes and substances that occur in living organisms, from the structure of proteins and nucleic acids to the metabolic pathways that convert food into energy and the molecular signals that regulate cell behaviour. Because all biological processes ultimately reduce to chemistry, biochemistry sits at the foundation of our understanding of health and disease, drug action, agricultural productivity, and environmental processes.

It is a discipline that combines rigorous experimental science with the intellectual satisfaction of understanding how living things actually work.
