Biological Sciences

Biological sciences encompasses the study of living systems at every level of organisation, from the molecular and cellular to the ecological and evolutionary. It draws on biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, physiology, microbiology and ecology to ask fundamental questions about how life works, how organisms develop and function, and how biological knowledge can be applied in medicine, agriculture and environmental management. The discipline sits at the intersection of basic research and applied science, contributing to advances in human and animal health, food security and conservation.

At the Royal Veterinary College in London you will study this three-year full-time programme, which draws on RVC's long history of cutting-edge research that has contributed to advances in both human and veterinary medicine. The programme explores the fundamentals of biological and biomedical science needed to understand and develop new therapies for human and animal diseases, giving you access to a unique research environment that integrates human and animal biology in ways that are not possible at most universities. The course includes a sandwich year and a year abroad alongside embedded work placement opportunities, providing significant professional and international experience alongside the academic content.
