About this course

Biomedical science is the study of the biological processes that underlie human health and disease, examined through the lenses of cell biology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, and physiology. It is a discipline that connects fundamental biological knowledge to the clinical questions that matter most: how diseases develop, how the body responds to infection and injury, how diagnostics work, and how new therapeutic approaches are developed. At Warwick, this four-year full-time programme gives you a thorough grounding in the biological basis of human health and disease. You will study human physiology and anatomy, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, virology, and immunology, developing both conceptual understanding and the practical laboratory skills that professional and research settings demand. Graduates go on to work in NHS clinical laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic and medical research, public health, and regulatory affairs. Those who graduate with an eligible degree can register as Biomedical Scientists with the Health and Care Professions Council. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in biomedical science, molecular medicine, or related fields, and some pursue medical, dental, or veterinary training.
