About this course

Biomedical science is the discipline that applies biological and chemical knowledge to the understanding of human health and disease, with a particular focus on the laboratory analysis that underpins clinical diagnosis. Biomedical scientists work with blood, tissue, and other biological samples to investigate disease, identify pathogens, and provide the diagnostic information that clinicians use to guide treatment. The field encompasses haematology, microbiology, clinical biochemistry, immunology, cellular pathology, and transfusion science, each addressing a different dimension of how the body functions and how it fails.
