Biomedical Science

Biomedical science is the laboratory-based discipline that underpins modern medicine and healthcare. It applies the knowledge and techniques of biology, chemistry and physics to the investigation of human health and disease, providing the scientific foundation for clinical diagnosis, therapeutic development and medical research. At the University of Hull you will study biomedical science over four years of full-time study, with a foundation year that builds the scientific foundations required before you engage with the core degree content. You will gain a deep understanding of the human body in health and disease through laboratory-based learning, developing practical skills in techniques such as haematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, immunology and cellular pathology. The programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, which provides the professional framework for qualified biomedical scientists working in the NHS and the healthcare sector more broadly.
