About this course

Biomedical science is the laboratory-based discipline that underpins modern medicine and healthcare. At the University of Hull you will study biomedical science over four years of full-time study, with a foundation year that builds the scientific foundations required before you engage with the core degree content. You will gain a deep understanding of the human body in health and disease through laboratory-based learning, developing practical skills in techniques such as haematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, immunology and cellular pathology. The programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, which provides the professional framework for qualified biomedical scientists working in the NHS and the healthcare sector more broadly.

Graduates who meet the requirements can register as biomedical scientists with the Health and Care Professions Council and work in NHS diagnostic laboratories, private healthcare providers, research institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and public health agencies.
