About this course

Business accounting with finance is a degree that brings together the principles of accounting, the conceptual frameworks of finance, and the broader commercial knowledge that effective financial professionals need. Accounting provides the skills to record, analyse, and report on an organisation's financial position, while finance adds the theoretical and quantitative tools to understand how capital markets work, how investment decisions are made, and how risk is evaluated and managed. Together, they prepare you for the professional and analytical demands of careers in financial services, commerce, and the public sector.

At Leeds Beckett University, this part-time programme develops your accounting and finance knowledge across the full range of subjects that employers in the field expect. This accounting and finance course offers you the opportunity to take a paid work placement in your third year, developing and enhancing your employability skills in a professional environment, alongside a year abroad that gives you international exposure to how business and finance operate in different markets. You will study financial reporting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment analysis, and quantitative methods, building both technical proficiency and commercial awareness.

Graduates are well placed to qualify with professional bodies such as the ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA, or CFA, entering roles in audit, tax, corporate finance, investment banking, financial planning, and management consultancy. The combination of accounting knowledge with finance theory is particularly valued in roles that require both an understanding of financial statements and the ability to apply capital market thinking. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in finance, accounting, or business.
