About this course

Business analytics is the discipline that uses data, statistical analysis, and quantitative modelling to understand business performance and support better decision-making. In an era when organisations generate extraordinary volumes of data and when competitive advantage increasingly depends on how well that data is understood and acted on, the skills of business analytics are among the most sought-after in the graduate labour market.

At Edge Hill University, this three-year full-time programme takes an in-depth look at how data and analytics can be used efficiently to increase performance in the modern business economy. You will develop technical skills in data analysis, statistical modelling, data visualisation, and the use of analytical tools, alongside the business knowledge needed to frame the right questions, interpret results in context, and communicate findings to decision-makers. The programme integrates analytical and business thinking throughout, ensuring that you develop not just technical competence but genuine commercial awareness.

The course includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement, giving you a rich range of professional and international experience alongside the academic programme. The typical entry tariff is 104 UCAS points.

Graduates from business analytics programmes go on to careers as data analysts, business intelligence analysts, management consultants, financial analysts, operations managers, and in a range of other roles where quantitative analysis and commercial acumen are combined. Further study options include postgraduate programmes in data science, business analytics, and management science.
