About this course

Business and climate change is a degree that addresses one of the most urgent intersections in contemporary professional life: the relationship between commercial activity and the planetary crisis that industrial economies have created. Climate change is reshaping the risk landscape, the regulatory environment, and the expectations of consumers, investors, and governments in ways that are transforming how businesses must think and operate. A degree that takes both sides of this relationship seriously, developing both commercial capability and deep understanding of the climate dimension, is increasingly relevant to employers across virtually every sector.

At Aberystwyth University, this three-year full-time programme engages seriously with the science, economics, politics, and ethics of climate change alongside the fundamentals of business management. You will develop a critical understanding of how carbon emissions have driven environmental change and how the social, political, economic, and natural systems of the world are being affected. Alongside this, you will build the analytical, strategic, and professional skills that business study provides, with a particular focus on how organisations can respond to and contribute to the transition to a lower-carbon economy.

You will develop the ability to think clearly and critically about the relationship between business decisions and environmental consequences, and to understand the emerging regulatory frameworks, market signals, and stakeholder expectations that are reshaping commercial practice.

Graduates are well positioned for careers in sustainability management, environmental consultancy, corporate responsibility, green finance, policy, international development, and any commercial or public sector role where climate and environmental understanding is becoming a requirement rather than an optional extra. Postgraduate study in sustainability, environmental management, business, or climate policy is a natural continuation for those seeking specialist expertise.

The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: case-based teaching forces you to think commercially. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” good transport links make it easy to vis…
