About this course

Business and management is one of the most versatile and broadly applicable degree subjects available, addressing the fundamental disciplines through which organisations are created, sustained, and developed. It encompasses strategy, finance, marketing, human resource management, operations, entrepreneurship and organisational behaviour, drawing on economics, psychology, sociology and quantitative methods to give students a rounded understanding of how businesses and other organisations function in competitive and dynamic environments.

At Reading, this programme offers considerable structural flexibility. There is a foundation year option for students who benefit from additional preparation before the main degree, alongside a sandwich year, year abroad and work placement opportunities within the degree structure, giving you the chance to extend your learning through international study and professional experience. You will cover core business disciplines including marketing strategy, financial accounting and management, economics for business, human resource management, operations and project management, and contemporary issues in organisational life.

Reading's business school is internationally recognised and has strong employer relationships. The typical entry tariff is 120 UCAS points.

Business and management graduates move into careers across virtually every sector of the economy. Management trainee programmes, graduate schemes in finance, marketing, operations, human resources and consulting, entrepreneurship, the civil service and international organisations all recruit business graduates. The combination of analytical skills, commercial literacy and, for those who undertake the sandwich year or placement, direct professional experience, gives Reading business graduates a competitive foundation for a wide range of careers.

Many also continue to postgraduate study in business administration, management, finance or specialist disciplines.

Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” the city is…

Genuinely worthwhile
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city…
