About this course

Business economics with marketing brings together two disciplines that are deeply intertwined in practice: the economic frameworks that explain how markets work, how firms make decisions, and how macroeconomic forces shape business environments, alongside the marketing principles that determine how organisations understand, reach, and influence consumers and other stakeholders. Business economics focuses on economic concepts, theories, and principles, learning how these are applied to various business activities inside organisations and across the wider business world, while marketing addresses the strategic and creative challenge of connecting what organisations offer with what people want.

At the University of Dundee, this four-year full-time programme develops your analytical and quantitative skills alongside your understanding of marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, and communication. You will study microeconomics and macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and business strategy alongside marketing theory and its application. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you international experience and the opportunity to encounter different business environments and marketing cultures.

Entry typically requires around 200 UCAS tariff points.

Graduates of business economics with marketing go on to work in marketing management, market research, economic analysis, strategy consultancy, business development, finance, and a wide range of commercial roles. The combination of economic rigour with marketing knowledge is distinctive and valued by employers who want people who can both understand data and communicate insight. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in business, marketing, economics, or related disciplines.

I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” the ci…

The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” good trans…
