Business economics and politics is a combination that addresses how markets and governments interact, and how the decisions made in both shape the world in which organisations operate. Business economics applies economic reasoning to the decisions facing firms, examining resource allocation, pricing, market structure, and the competitive environment in which businesses must make strategic choices. Politics examines how power is organised and exercised, how policy is made, and how political systems and ideological conflicts shape the rules within which economic activity takes place.
Together, they develop a graduate who can analyse both the commercial and the political dimensions of the environments they work in.
