About this course

Business Entrepreneurship is a degree that takes the core principles of business management education and places entrepreneurship, the creation, development and growth of new ventures, at its centre. Where traditional business programmes examine how established organisations operate, entrepreneurship degrees focus on how new ideas are developed, tested and turned into viable businesses, how opportunities are identified and evaluated, how resources are assembled and how ventures are scaled. The combination of business fundamentals with entrepreneurial thinking equips graduates for roles that require both commercial judgement and the courage to create.

At the University of Southampton, this full-time three-year programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, ensuring that your academic learning is grounded in direct professional and international experience. You will receive a rigorous business management education alongside a focused exploration of entrepreneurship and its role in the economy and society. The practical components of the degree develop the skills to plan, promote, finance and grow a business venture, equipping you to start your own enterprise or bring entrepreneurial thinking into an existing organisation.

Business Entrepreneurship graduates go on to careers across an exceptionally wide range of destinations. Many start their own businesses or join early-stage ventures where entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills are directly valued. Others enter graduate management schemes, roles in business development, strategy, innovation or consulting, or positions in the public sector or social enterprise where enterprise thinking drives change.

The degree is equally a strong foundation for postgraduate study in entrepreneurship, business administration or management, and many graduates go on to develop their expertise further through taught or research programmes.
