About this course

Business management and dance is an unusual but genuinely coherent combination, reflecting the fact that dance, like all performing arts, exists within a commercial and organisational context that requires exactly the skills a business management education develops. Whether you aspire to work as a dance practitioner, in arts administration, or in the broader creative industries, understanding how organisations function, how markets operate, and how strategic decisions are made adds substantial professional value to your creative training. This three-year full-time degree at Liverpool Hope University includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience.

The business management strand will develop your understanding of how organisations of all sizes navigate the complex and rapidly changing environments they operate in, covering business principles, organisational dynamics, financial management, marketing, and the strategic thinking that effective management demands. The dance strand will develop your technique, performance skills, and creative practice alongside the critical understanding of dance as an art form, a cultural practice, and an increasingly significant professional sector. The sandwich year, year abroad, and work placements allow you to apply your learning in professional and international contexts, building the networks and experience that accelerate your career.

An entry tariff of 88 UCAS points reflects an inclusive admissions approach. Graduates from business management and dance programmes pursue careers in dance performance and choreography, arts administration and management, event and production management, community arts and dance education, marketing and communications within the creative industries, and general business management. Many continue to postgraduate study or professional development in dance, arts management, or business.
