Business Management and Economics

Business management and economics is a combination built on complementary strengths. Business management provides the practical and organisational knowledge needed to understand how companies and institutions function, covering strategy, marketing, operations, finance, and organisational behaviour. Economics provides the analytical framework for understanding the broader environment in which businesses operate, examining how markets work, how incentives shape behaviour, and how macroeconomic forces affect commercial decisions.

Together, they produce graduates who can think both inside the organisation and about the world around it.

At Liverpool Hope University, this programme is structured across four years, incorporating a foundation element for additional preparation alongside the main degree content. The degree examines small to medium-sized enterprises as well as global multinational companies across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, developing understanding of business principles, organisational dynamics, and management processes in a range of contexts. A sandwich year placement gives you substantial professional experience before the final year, and a year abroad allows you to study in a different national and business environment.

Work placement activity is integrated throughout, connecting academic learning to real commercial practice. A typical entry tariff of 88 points applies.

You will develop skills in analytical reasoning, data interpretation, teamwork, strategic thinking, and communication. The economics strand provides the quantitative and conceptual tools to analyse markets and policy, while the management strand develops the practical and interpersonal skills that working in organisations requires.
