About this course

Business management is the study of how organisations are created, structured, led, and made to function effectively. It is an applied social science that draws on economics, psychology, sociology, and quantitative methods to understand how decisions are made under uncertainty, how people work together, how resources are allocated, and how organisations navigate competitive and changing environments. The breadth of the subject is one of its defining features and one of its primary attractions.

At the University of East Anglia this three-year full-time programme covers the core functions and frameworks of business management, including strategy, marketing, finance, accounting, operations, organisational behaviour, and entrepreneurship. You will develop the analytical skills to evaluate business problems, the quantitative literacy to work with financial and market data, and the communication skills to present and defend recommendations. UEA's management school is research-active and engaged with real business questions, and the university's location in Norwich gives you a distinctive regional business context alongside strong connections to national and international employers.

The programme develops both the specific content knowledge of business and the transferable skills, rigorous thinking, clear writing, and effective teamwork, that make business graduates genuinely versatile in the labour market.

Graduates go on to careers in management, consultancy, marketing, finance, operations, human resources, entrepreneurship, and the public and not-for-profit sectors. Business management is one of the most widely employed degree subjects in the UK, and UEA graduates benefit from the university's strong career services and employer relationships. Many also continue to postgraduate study, including MBA programmes, specialist master's degrees, and professional qualifications in accountancy, marketing, or HR.
