About this course

Business Management is a degree concerned with how organisations are structured, led and developed, and how they respond to the economic, social and technological forces that shape the environments in which they operate. It is a discipline that draws on economics, organisational psychology, strategy, operations, marketing and finance to build a comprehensive and practically grounded understanding of what makes organisations work and how skilled management contributes to their success. For students who want to understand how ideas become enterprises and how change happens at every scale, business management provides both the conceptual frameworks and the practical skills they need.

At Swansea University, this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year and is designed for curious, forward-thinking students who want to engage with modern business in its full complexity. You will explore the values that define responsible contemporary business practice, including sustainability, inclusivity, ethics and innovation, developing an understanding of how organisations can make a difference as well as a profit. The degree takes a forward-looking approach that reflects the realities of business in a world of rapid change, equipping you to contribute meaningfully whether you go into the private sector, the public sector or social enterprise.

Business Management graduates pursue careers across an extraordinarily wide range of sectors. Management trainee and graduate schemes in major organisations, roles in marketing, human resources, operations and finance, positions in consulting and public service, and the founding of new enterprises are all natural destinations. Many graduates go on to postgraduate study in business administration, management, marketing or a specialist area to develop further expertise and accelerate their career progression into leadership roles.

Genuinely worthwhile
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the course strikes a good balance between theory and practical application. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city β€” the city is a b…
