About this course

Business management with accounting gives you both the strategic commercial perspective of a management degree and the technical financial skills that are central to how organisations are measured and run. Accounting is fundamental to business: it provides the language in which financial performance is reported, the tools through which resources are managed, and the discipline through which decisions are evaluated and audited. Understanding it from the inside of a business management framework, rather than purely as a technical profession, gives you a perspective that is genuinely valuable to employers.

At the University of Hull, this four-year full-time programme includes a placement year, giving you the opportunity to apply your combined business and accounting knowledge in a real professional environment before you return for your final year. You will gain an insider's view of how businesses operate from an accounting perspective, developing both the theoretical understanding of financial reporting, management accounting, and corporate finance and the practical competence to use those tools in decision-making. The management strand covers strategy, marketing, operations, and organisational behaviour, developing the commercial breadth that turns accounting knowledge into genuine business value.

The typical entry tariff is 104 UCAS points.

Graduates from business management with accounting programmes go on to careers in management accounting, financial management, corporate finance, auditing, financial analysis, and general management in a wide range of organisations. Many pursue professional accounting qualifications from bodies such as the ICAEW, ACCA, or CIMA, for which this degree provides a strong foundation. Further study at postgraduate level in accounting, finance, or business administration is also available for those who wish to deepen their expertise before entering the profession.
