About this course

Business studies and management together address the principles and practice of how organisations operate, compete, and adapt. Business studies provides the theoretical frameworks for understanding markets, finance, strategy, and the behaviour of firms, while management brings those frameworks to bear on the practical challenges of leading people, coordinating resources, and making decisions in real organisations. Together, they develop graduates who can both analyse and act, understanding why organisations succeed or fail and how to make a difference within them.

The University of Stirling offers this four-year full-time programme with a year abroad option, allowing you to spend time at a partner institution overseas and bring an international dimension to your understanding of business and management. The programme carries a typical entry tariff of 168 points and is studied at a university with a strong tradition in business education. You will explore topics including organisational behaviour, strategic management, marketing, human resource management, accounting, operations, and entrepreneurship, developing both technical business knowledge and the interpersonal and leadership skills that management roles require.

Stirling's approach emphasises the connections between academic theory and real-world application.

Graduates of business and management programmes enter careers across virtually every sector: banking, retail, consulting, the public sector, manufacturing, technology, media, and the creative industries all recruit business graduates. Common roles include management trainee, project manager, business analyst, marketing manager, operations manager, and management consultant. Many graduates pursue postgraduate study, including MBA programmes, specialist management masters degrees, or professional qualifications in accountancy, marketing, or human resources.

The breadth of the degree means that career options remain genuinely wide throughout your working life.

I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” good transport link…
