About this course

Business with tourism management combines the core analytical and managerial skills of a business education with a specialist understanding of one of the world's most economically significant industries. Tourism generates more than ten percent of global GDP and supports hundreds of millions of jobs worldwide, and managing effectively within it requires the same strategic, financial, marketing, and operational expertise as any other business sector, combined with an understanding of the distinctive characteristics of hospitality, travel, and destination management. This three-year full-time degree at Anglia Ruskin University prepares you to work effectively across a variety of tourism-related roles.

You will develop knowledge across the core functions of business, including strategy, marketing, finance, and operations, while building specialist understanding of how the tourism industry operates, how visitor experiences are created and managed, how destinations are developed and promoted, and how tourism businesses respond to changing consumer demand and global conditions. The programme equips you to deploy business knowledge and skills to create tourism opportunities, use marketing tools effectively, and devise credible solutions to operational and strategic problems in tourism contexts.

Graduates from business with tourism management programmes move into careers in hotel and hospitality management, tour operations and travel management, destination management organisations, events management, airline and transport management, heritage and cultural tourism, and general business management roles in the tourism sector. The business skills you develop also provide a foundation for roles in other industries where commercial acumen and customer-focused thinking are valued. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in tourism management, hospitality, or business administration.
