At the University of Leeds, this five-year full-time industrial programme combines rigorous civil engineering education with a sandwich year of professional experience, ensuring you graduate as a highly capable engineer with direct knowledge of how the profession works in practice.

You will study structural engineering, geotechnics, hydraulics, transportation, environmental engineering, construction management, and engineering mathematics, developing the breadth of technical knowledge that the profession demands alongside strong analytical and design skills. The work placement is integral to the programme, giving you a full year in a professional civil engineering environment where you will apply your technical training, develop professional relationships, and understand the commercial and contractual realities of construction and infrastructure projects. Entry typically requires around 152 UCAS tariff points.

Civil engineering graduates from a programme of this depth and length go on to careers in consulting engineering, local and central government, infrastructure management, construction, environmental engineering, and international development.
