Comparative Literature & Culture

Comparative literature and culture is the study of texts, ideas and cultural forms across national, linguistic and historical boundaries. Where a single-literature degree invites you to go deep within one tradition, comparative literature asks you to look across them, examining what is shared and what is distinctive, how ideas and forms travel between cultures, and what is lost or transformed in translation.
