About this course

Computer science is the rigorous study of computation: what can be computed, how efficiently, and how to design and build systems that compute reliably and securely. It rests on mathematical foundations that include logic, combinatorics, probability, and the theory of algorithms and data structures, and it builds from these towards the engineering of software, the design of programming languages, the architecture of computer systems, the study of artificial intelligence, and the management of large bodies of data. It is one of the most consequential disciplines of our time, underpinning nearly every aspect of modern life.

At the University of Hull you will study this four-year full-time degree with a typical entry tariff of 104 points. Hull has invested significantly in its computing facilities and the programme is designed to develop both theoretical understanding and practical programming skills across a range of languages, tools, and application domains. Across the four years you will study algorithms and data structures, software engineering principles, database systems, computer networks and security, operating systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the mathematical foundations that underpin all of these areas.
