About this course

The demand for qualified cybersecurity professionals consistently outpaces supply, making it one of the most employment-secure fields in technology.

At Coventry, this two-year full-time Higher Technical Qualification in computing with a cybersecurity specialism develops your knowledge and practical skills in cyber threats and vulnerabilities, cyber defence techniques and incident response. The HTQ is a vocational qualification at degree level, designed in collaboration with employers to ensure that the content and skills developed are directly relevant to the working world. You will engage with the technical underpinnings of how digital systems can be attacked and defended, developing both the theoretical understanding and the practical competence that cybersecurity roles require.

The two-year format means you progress quickly from foundational skills to more advanced cybersecurity knowledge, developing competence in areas including network security, ethical hacking, digital forensics, security operations and vulnerability assessment. The HTQ format is explicitly employer-connected, which tends to make the transition from study to employment more direct than a traditional academic degree.
