About this course

Computing science encompasses both the theoretical foundations of computation and the practical skills of designing, building and deploying software and systems. It is a discipline concerned with how problems are represented, how algorithms solve them, how data is managed and how systems at every scale from embedded devices to cloud infrastructure are designed and made to work reliably. Computing science graduates are among the most employed of all graduates, because digital systems underpin virtually every sector of the modern economy.

At the University of Aberdeen this five-year, full-time programme includes an industrial placement and a year abroad, giving you extended professional experience and an international perspective on a global technology industry. You will study software programming, databases and data management, computer systems, artificial intelligence, cyber security and the application of technical and creative problem-solving skills to commercial, scientific and socio-economic contexts.
