About this course

Content creation, digital media, and journalism have converged in recent years into a single broad field in which the ability to produce compelling content, understand digital platforms, and report accurately and ethically are equally valuable. Journalists must now think as content creators, and content creators need the rigour and editorial judgement that journalism demands. The digital environment has also fundamentally changed how stories are told, how audiences are reached, and how the economics of media work, making an understanding of digital platforms, algorithms, and audience behaviour essential for anyone entering the field.

At the University of Buckingham, this two-year full-time programme provides both the practical training and the critical understanding needed to work effectively in contemporary media. You will develop skills across a range of content forms and platforms, learning to research, produce, and edit material for digital and traditional outlets. You will gain practical experience in journalism alongside training in digital media production, building the versatile portfolio that employers in this fast-changing sector expect.

The accelerated two-year structure means you complete a full degree in less time, progressing quickly into the professional world without compromising the depth of your learning.

Graduates of content creation, digital media, and journalism programmes find careers as journalists, online editors, content strategists, social media producers, podcast makers, documentary filmmakers, communications officers, and digital marketing specialists. The convergence of media means that skills developed across these areas transfer readily between roles, and many graduates build portfolio careers that span more than one professional identity. Others move into public relations, charity communications, corporate media, or the growing world of independent publishing and creator economies.

Some continue to postgraduate study in journalism, media, or communications, building specialist expertise in investigative reporting, data journalism, or media management.
