Criminology

Criminology is the social scientific study of crime, criminal behaviour, and the systems through which societies respond to crime and deviance. It draws on sociology, psychology, law, and political science to ask fundamental questions about why people commit crime, how communities and institutions create or reduce criminogenic conditions, and whether the criminal justice systems we have, including the police, courts, and prisons, are just, effective, or capable of reform.
