Culture, heritage, and archaeology is an integrated field of study concerned with how human societies produce, sustain, and interpret their material and cultural pasts. The Highlands and Islands themselves provide an extraordinary context for this kind of study, with one of Europe's richest concentrations of prehistoric monuments, early medieval sites, Norse settlements, and post-clearance landscapes, alongside vibrant living Gaelic cultural traditions. You will develop skills in archaeological fieldwork and analysis, heritage management and policy, and cultural interpretation, learning to engage with the material record of the past and with the contemporary institutions that give it meaning and public presence.

You will develop skills in research, critical analysis, and communication, as well as the practical fieldwork and documentation competencies that archaeology and heritage management require. The part-time mode makes this programme particularly accessible to those already working in related fields who wish to formalise or deepen their knowledge.

Graduates go on to work in museums and heritage organisations, archaeological units, local authorities, environmental charities, cultural tourism, and community heritage projects.
