Cyber security is the discipline concerned with protecting digital systems, networks, data, and the people and organisations that depend on them from malicious attacks, unauthorised access, and exploitation. As organisations across every sector have become dependent on information technology, the frequency and sophistication of cyber attacks have grown correspondingly, creating urgent demand for professionals who can design secure systems, detect and respond to incidents, and advise on risk management and compliance. Cyber security sits at the intersection of computer science, mathematics, and the human and organisational factors that determine how security risks are managed in practice.

At the University of Derby, this three-year full-time Cyber Security degree with a foundation year, sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement gives you a thorough grounding in the technical and analytical foundations of the discipline alongside substantial applied experience.
