The profession combines technical expertise with direct patient care, and it is a growing and essential part of modern healthcare.

At the University of the West of England, Bristol, this three-year, full-time degree leads to registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a diagnostic radiographer. You will study anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiation science, imaging technology, and the clinical skills needed to position and image patients effectively across a wide range of examination types. Clinical placement is a substantial and integral part of the programme, with significant time spent working in NHS imaging departments under the supervision of registered radiographers, developing your practical skills alongside your academic knowledge.

Graduates register with the HCPC and work in NHS hospitals and independent sector imaging facilities across the full range of diagnostic imaging modalities. The profession offers strong graduate employment rates, with the great majority of graduates moving directly into clinical roles.
