About this course

Digital marketing has transformed how organisations reach, engage, and retain their audiences, and it continues to evolve rapidly as platforms, algorithms, data practices, and consumer behaviour shift. Combining digital marketing with law gives you a distinctive advantage: you understand not just how to create and deploy effective campaigns across digital channels but also the legal framework that governs what organisations can and cannot do in the digital space, from data protection and consumer rights to intellectual property and advertising standards.

At Liverpool Hope you will study the theory and practice of digital marketing, including content strategy, search and social media, analytics, email marketing, and the psychology of consumer behaviour online, alongside the foundations of legal knowledge. The law elements cover the principles of contract, tort, and commercial law as they apply to business, as well as the specific regulations that govern digital commerce, privacy, and online communications. The programme combines academic rigour with practical relevance, ensuring that your learning reflects the realities of current professional practice.

The three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year and a year abroad, giving you real marketing experience in a professional environment and the opportunity to engage with digital marketing in an international context.

Graduates are well placed for careers in digital marketing agencies, in-house marketing teams, compliance and regulatory roles within technology and media businesses, legal and commercial roles in digital companies, and consultancy. Understanding both marketing practice and the legal environment gives you a perspective that is genuinely useful in a digital economy where regulatory scrutiny of platforms and data practices is growing. Postgraduate study in marketing, digital business, or law is also an option for those who want to develop further specialist knowledge.

Highly recommend
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, a few modules feel under-resourced compared to the flagship ones. O…

A great decision
The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: small-group tutorials really push your thinking. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” the city is a brilliant student city with p…
