Economics and finance is a combination that addresses two related but distinct questions about how the financial world works. Economics provides the theoretical frameworks for understanding how markets allocate resources, how monetary and fiscal policy affects output and employment, and how global trade and capital flows shape the wealth of nations. Finance builds on those foundations to address more specific questions about how businesses and investors raise and deploy capital, how risk is priced and managed, and how financial markets behave.

Together they give you a complete picture of the economic and financial forces that shape business life and public policy.

At Aberdeen this four-year full-time programme takes you from the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics through to applied topics in international finance, corporate finance, and investment analysis. You will develop quantitative skills in economic modelling and financial analysis, as well as the ability to communicate your reasoning clearly to a range of audiences. The programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at an international partner institution and deepen your understanding of how economic and financial systems operate in different national contexts.
