At the University of the West of England, Bristol, this three-year full-time programme is built around principles of sustainability and is designed to be adapted to your own interests and career goals. You will develop specialist knowledge in two particularly significant areas: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and Digital Learning. The SEND strand equips you with a deep understanding of inclusive education, how learners with a wide range of needs are supported, and the policy frameworks that govern provision.
The Digital Learning strand explores how technology is transforming educational environments and what this means for pedagogy, access, and equity. The course includes a sandwich year and work placement, giving you sustained professional experience that sits alongside your academic studies and helps you connect theory directly to practice in real educational settings.
Graduates from education degrees go on to a wide range of careers. Many choose to progress to initial teacher training and enter the classroom, while others move into roles in educational support, learning and development, SEND coordination, youth work, or policy and research. The analytical and communication skills developed through an education degree are also valued in graduate roles beyond the education sector, including the civil service, third-sector organisations, and management.
