About this course

Electrical and Electronic Engineering underpins almost every aspect of modern life. The phones, computers, and networks we depend on, the power grids that keep homes and hospitals running, the electric vehicles reshaping transport, and the renewable energy systems addressing climate change all exist because of the work of electrical and electronic engineers. The discipline combines the physics of electricity and electromagnetism with the design of circuits, systems, and software, producing graduates capable of creating and managing the technologies that define the contemporary world.

At Sheffield Hallam University, this full-time programme runs over three years and includes a foundation year for students who need additional grounding in the sciences and mathematics before beginning the main degree. A sandwich year and work placement opportunities are also embedded in the programme, giving you substantial professional experience alongside your academic study. You will cover core areas including circuit theory, digital electronics, signal processing, power systems, control engineering, and embedded software.
