About this course

Electrical and electronic engineering is among the most fundamental of engineering disciplines, concerned with the generation, transmission, and control of electrical energy and signals, and with the design of the electronic systems and devices on which modern technology depends. From the infrastructure of power grids and telecommunications networks to the components inside medical devices, autonomous vehicles, and consumer electronics, electrical and electronic engineers create the systems that underpin almost every aspect of contemporary life.

At the University of Liverpool, this four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at one of the university's partner institutions around the world. The year abroad combines culture and discipline-related modules, giving you both an international perspective on engineering education and the experience of studying in a different country. You will study core engineering subjects including circuit theory, electromagnetism, digital systems, signal processing, control engineering, power electronics, and communications, developing the analytical depth and technical capability that the discipline requires.

Liverpool's engineering school has strong research connections to the aerospace, automotive, and digital industries in the North West and beyond.

You will develop strong mathematical and analytical skills alongside the practical and computational capabilities that engineering practice demands. The year abroad adds an international dimension that is increasingly valued by engineering employers.
