About this course

Electronic and computer engineering sits at the convergence of two disciplines that have shaped the modern world: electronics, which designs and builds the circuits and systems that make devices work, and computer engineering, which focuses on the hardware and software architectures that make computers function. Together, they address the design, development, and operation of the integrated digital and electronic systems that underpin everything from smartphones and medical devices to robotics, industrial automation, and communications infrastructure.

At the University of Plymouth, this three-year full-time degree develops your expertise across both areas, equipping you with both the electronic design skills to work with hardware and the software engineering skills to develop the systems that run on it. A sandwich year is built into the programme, giving you a full year of hands-on industry experience, and a year abroad and work placement opportunities are also available, broadening your professional and international exposure. The typical entry tariff is 88 points.

Electronic and computer engineering graduates are in demand across a wide range of sectors. Many work in electronics design, embedded systems, telecommunications, industrial automation, consumer electronics, aerospace, defence, and the automotive industry.
