About this course

Electronic and electrical engineering at the integrated master's level is a programme that takes you from the foundational principles of the discipline through to advanced design capability in a single five-year degree, avoiding the need to progress separately to a master's programme. Electronic engineering works at the level of circuits, semiconductors, and signals, enabling the processing, transmission, and storage of information. Electrical engineering deals with the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power.

Together they underpin the digital, communications, and energy systems that define contemporary technological society.

At Brunel, this four-year programme with a foundation year and a year abroad provides an integrated route from supported entry into higher education through to master's-level qualification. The foundation year builds the mathematical and scientific grounding needed for the main degree, after which you will study the core of electronic and electrical engineering, including circuit theory, digital systems, signal processing, power electronics, control systems, and communications, progressing to advanced topics and design projects at master's level. The year abroad gives you the opportunity to study at an international partner institution and to develop the global perspective that is relevant in an industry where technology development and manufacturing are distributed across many countries.
