English Language and Linguistics

English language and linguistics is the scientific study of human language, with a particular focus on the English language in all its variety and complexity. At the University of Sheffield, you will study English language and linguistics over four years full-time, developing rigorous analytical skills in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics.
