English Language and Media and Communication is a combination that examines two of the most fundamental forces shaping how we understand and engage with the world. English language study focuses on language itself as a system and a social practice, investigating its structures, its history, its variation across communities and the ways in which it is used to construct meaning and identity. Media and communication studies examines the platforms, institutions and technologies through which information and culture circulate, and the effects this has on public understanding and social life.

At Liverpool Hope University this three-year full-time degree is grounded in the distinctive linguistic environment of one of the UK's most diverse cities.
